Rhode Island Differential Assessment Statutes

Rhode Island’s differential assessment law directs government to assess agricultural land at its value for agriculture, rather than fair market value, which is generally higher.  This law includes 2017 legislation exempting a maximum of 20% of the total land acreage from a land use change tax if the purpose of the change is to install a commercial renewable energy system.
